In 1947, when India was partitioned, the Hindu population in Pakistan was about 24%. Today it is not even 1%. In 1947, the Hindu population in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was 30%. Today it is about 5%. Probably even less.
In contrast, in India, Muslim population has gone up from 10.4% in 1951 to more than 25% today whereas Hindu population has come down from 87.2% in 1951 to less than 82% in 1991.
Discrimination against the Hindus is reinforced by the religious orthodoxy, within educational institutions as well as by the state-controlled media. As a consequence of the oppression and discrimination, the last two decades have seen a steady exodus of Hindus from Pakistan.Minority Hindus feel left out of poll process in Pakistan. The members of the minority Hindu community feel they are mostly left out of the poll process despite having a notable presence, especially in the southern Sindh province.
While in India Muslim are given utmost priority mostly because each political party want to use them as their vote bank. Muslim in India are so powerful that they have the ability to bring any one into power.
