Cyclone Remal Aftermath Updates

Cyclone Remal Updates:

Cyclone Remal, which made landfall on the coasts of West Bengal last night (May 26), left several trees uprooted in Kolkata. Rainfall continues in several parts of the state while the cyclone has weakened.

■Raimangal river's embankment at Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district of WestBengal.Yesterday CycloneRemal has damaged the embankment. State Irrigation department has made necessary arrangements.

●NDRF is closely monitoring the post landfall situation in West Bengal. 14 Rescue Teams deployed across the State now actively engaged in restoration work with local agencies. 

■Road clearance work undertaken in Sandeshkhali, Sagar island and Dantan by NDRF Rescuers.

■Sundarbans, West Bengal: Roads being cleared after trees uprooted amid the heavy downpour and strong winds, in South 24-Parganas.

●High sea waves can be seen at Ganga Sagar of South 24 Parganas district of WestBengal. 

■River embankment breached due to CycloneRemal at Namkhana of South 24 Parganas district of WestBengal. 

●A rescue centre at Ghuni of Hasnabad of North 24 Parganas district, WestBengal. 50 residents of 20 families are here. Administration has brought them at Purbaghuni Primary School due to CycloneRemal. 

●IndiaCoastGuard is closely monitoring the landfall of cyclone Remal with disaster response team, Ships, Hovercraft standby at short notice to respond to post-impact challenges.

■Flight operations resume at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata after it was shut down yesterday in view of the Cyclone Remal. Passengers expressed relief on resumption of services.

■Severe cycloneremal hit West Bengal on May 26. Thanks to proactive surveillance by IndiaCoastGuard ships, aircraft, & shore systems, the entire merchant fleet was diverted, ensuring zero loss of life & property at sea. The Indian Coast Guard stands true to its motto once again.
